About This Item

Chicago: Thompson & Thomas, 1907. Hardcover. 8vo. Grey cloth with black and white lettering and black, white and red pictorial stamping. 303pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Faint edgewear; text block lightly and evenly age toned as usual. A tight, attractive first edition of the sixth and last title in this series -- penned by, of all people, a one-term governor of Wisconsin and mayor of Milwaukee (1840-1916). A far above average copy with delightful front board graphics, clean and nice, of a series usually found in worn 'n' torn condition.Take away Huck Finn's good nature and give Dennis the Menace a 21st century edge and what have you got? Henry "Hennery" Peck, a rougher-about-the-edges version. Title page subtitle elaborates: "Relating the Amusing Experiences and Laughable Incidents of this Strenuous American Boy and his Pa while among the Cowboys and Indians in the Far West. Exciting Hunts and Adventures mingled with Humorous Situations and Laugh Provoking Events."
