About This Item
London, Martin Secker, [1915]. 8vo. Original cloth, ornamented and lettered in gilt; pp. 263, 15 (publisher's catalogue], frontispiece in photogravure with tissue guard; a litle ofseting from endpapers, evenly a little toned due to paper stock, as usual; a very good copy of a very uncommon work. First edition of this first-hand account of life among Yemenis, written by a British advisor in the Yemen and South West Arabia. 'I was inspired by a love of these Tribesmen of Al Yemen with whom I have worked for ten years, including a very close sojourn in their midast of three years' he writes in the preface (p. 7). One of the better insights into Southern Aranbian society, customs, family life, food and drink.
