About This Item

New York: Grove Press. Good. 1960. First Paperback Edition. Paperback. Color and b&w reproductions; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 63 pages; [SIGNED Presentation Copy] 1960 Grove Press. Trade size paperback in original glossy pictorial covers. Inscribed by Ashton to David Pease on the title page: "For David / with gratitude / Dore." Pease was an American Modern artist and long serving dean of the Yale Art School; his small ink name stamp top corner of the half-title page. The small format monograph is soundly bound but has some archival paper tape reinforcing the spine and two old tape reinforcements to spine ends. Some small number of scattered pages with pencil marginalia, presumably by Pease. Covers lightly toned with trace shelf soiling. Illustrated with color and b&w reproductions of Guston works. Ashton's inscription undated, but presumably contemporary with the book's publication. Good only ; Signed by Author .
