English translation of Physiognomische Fragmente zur Beförderung der Menschenkenntniss und Menschenliebe. Signatures: A-M¹². Bound in tree calf, gilt decorated spine. Front joint split but holding. Edge wear and covers rubbed. Foot of spine chipped. Pages somewhat softerend. Minor worming to rear cover and endpapers, not affecting text. Good. English translation of Lavater's most famous work, which introduced the idea that people's personalities are related to their physical appearance.
