SIGNED by the Author on a publisher's tipped-in front endpaper, 8vo (8 1/2" x 6"), black quarter cloth with gold lettering on spine over tan boards blindstamped RWP, archival mylar-protected gold-lettered black dust jacket (unclipped), ochre endpapers, 401 pages. Krochs & Brentanos' "1st Edition Circle" bookmark laid in. Robert Penn Warren (1905 - 1989) was an American poet, novelist, and literary critic and one of the founders of the New Criticism. He received the 1947 Pulitzer Prize for the Novel for ALL THE KING'S MEN (1946) and the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1958 and 1979. He is the only person to have won Pulitzer Prizes for both fiction and poetry. He was honored to become the first poet laureate of the United States.<br /> <br /> A PLACE TO COME TO is a novel about Jed Tewksbury who tries to escape his backwoods origins in Nashville, Tennessee.<br /> <br /> SIGNED & in SUPERIOR CONDITION internally & externally.
