A first edition copy of this beautifully illustrated collection of poems by the 19th century writer Jean Ingelow, in a decorative cloth binding. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with decorative gilt to the boards and spine. All edges gilt. Ink inscription to the front free end paper, dated 1879. A lovely collection of the poems of the British poet and novelist Jean Ingelow (1820-1897), including her well-known poems 'Divided' and 'The High Tide on the Coast of Lincolnshire'. Illustrated with numerous black and white illustrations by G. J. Pinwell, J. W. North, J. Wolf, E. J. Pynter, A. B. Houghton, W. Small and the Brothers Dalziel, who also engraved these illustrations. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, except for fading to the spine and shelf wear to the extremities. Gilt remains bright to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot and faint tidemarks to the extremities. Very Good
