About This Item

New York: Thomas Y. Crowell This handsome, ornately decorated volume is in Very Good+ condition (click on photo). It contains not only all of Goldsmith's major works, but a bigraphical essay by Henry T.Tuckerman, a critique of Goldsmith's work and memories of him by Dr. Aikin, and verses written by other poets at the time of Dr. Goldsmith's death. The book is undated but is probably from around the turn of the century. The book is bound in light brown cloth, with elaborate Empire-style design elements in gilt and black. It also has all-edge gilt. There is a signature from a former owner on the front free endpaper. The binding is tight and secure. The pages are white and sparkling throughout. There is an inch tear on the Title Page. The book also includes a frontis illustration of Goldsmith, with tissue guard. The book measures 5 1/4 by 7 3/8 inches and includes 530 pages. . Hard Cover. Very Good+/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
