This is a stunning eight volume collection of The Poetical Works of the Rev. George Crabbe with his letters and journals and his life written by his son. Each volume has an frontispiece and an illustrated title page. Volume I contains a biography of Crabbe's life. Volume II contains some of his poems, including The Library and The Village. Volume III contains The Borough up to Letter XIX. Volume IV continues The Borough and includes Occasional Pieces and The Tales. Volume V continues the The Tales, Flirtation- A Dialogue, a various Occasional Pieces.Volume VI contains the Tales of The Hall up to Book XI. Volume VII continues the Tales of the Hall. Volume VIII contains Posthumous Tales. George Crabbe was an English poet who is best known for his early use of the realistic narrative form and his descriptions of middle and working-class life and people. In half red morocco leather binding. Externally, smart. The spines are slightly faded and there are a few marks to the boards. There is a bookplate pasted to the front pastedown of Volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean with the odd scattered spot throughout. Very Good Indeed
