NY: Harper & Row, 1962. First edition. Inscribed by the author: "Jane and By, With love and a Merry Christmas from Auntie K and Andy / N. Brooklin, Maine." A collection of eighteen essays, originally published in The New Yorker, in which White describes an America viewed from his armchair. Quarter black cloth with brown paper over boards and gilt titling to spine. Dampstain to foot of book reaching flyleaves, bumps to corners, else very good in good dust wrapper with mild soiling and creasing and with loss to tail of spine. Former owner's inscription on front flyleaf.
