Volume two gives ends with chapter 13, the a full description of ther plats, and explanations of the Vignettes, appendix 1 and 2. Bound in full red straight grained morocco decorated in gilt, rebacked with original gilt decorated spine laid down, all edges gilt, renewed endpapers, the first three pages of volume one with scattered foxing, internally mostly clean with ocassional spots of foxing, previous owner's name dated Christmas, 1882. A very good set of this important work.

Recently re-cased into original green half straight-grained morocco, with gilt titles and blind decoration to spine, and plain pasteboards. All edges untrimmed. A lovely clean, untrimmed copy, showing only minimal spotting and offsetting from plates. Binding shows moderate wear, and some toning and rubbing to spine. Restored to an attractive, robust condition. Very good. A seminal publication on the archaeology and architecture of ancient Pompeii, which had been extensively excavated during the Napoleonic occupation of Italy.
