Reader reviews for Predictive Maintenance Using Vibration Analysis

From the publisher

Any machine that is used in an industry must have a proper maintenance schedule that should be followed in order to prolong the life of the machine and to avoid unscheduled failures or shutdowns, Predictive Maintenance is a technique by which we can effectively reduce the machine failures and shutdown by predicting its maintenance before its breakdown. There are many techniques which are used for predictive maintenance of machines like tribology, ultrasonic monitoring, thermography and vibration analysis. The technique that we are using is vibration analysis which uses the vibration data from different machines with the help of vibration analyzer and plots the time waveform and spectrum diagrams (amplitude vs. frequency plots), from there we can infer that the machine is operating in its recommended conditions i.e. it is not vibrating unnecessarily in any direction. Then if the machine is vibrating excessively in any direction that could lead to its failure we can damp its vibration by means of damper-spring combination.
