The spine is lightly worn at the top and bottom, there are minor chips and a small closed tear to the top edge of the dust jacket and there is a previous owner's name on the front free endpaper. "The King's face is ugly, puckered, nervous and comical. He spills the blood-red wine when he drinks, to the disgust of his wife, who is a Danish woman, fair, with no thoughts beyond her next new dress" - from the Introduction.
