About This Item
London: Jonathan Cape, 1982. First edition. Paperback. Very Good Indeed. 8" by 6". None. An excellent scarcely found uncorrected proof of Anita Brookner's second novel. This scarcely found uncorrected proof copy of the first edition of novelist Anita Brookner's second book 'Providence' follows an intelligent grappling with her place in the world, and explores classic Brookner themes including isolation, immigration, and identity. Brookner is best known for her Booker Prize winning work 'Hotel du Lac'. Uncorrected proof. First edition. A stylist of insight and wit, Brookner displays in 'Prodvidence' the tremendous evocative detail that brought her acclaim. In the publisher's original paperback pre-publication binding. Externally, generally very smart with some shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally, generally firmly bound, but strained at the front hinge. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
