About This Item
Paris: Berthaud Frères, 1902 12mo (19 cm), 20 pp, 86 plates. Burgundy cloth, spine gilt, original wrappers bound in, whole book mounted on guards (withdrawn library stamps on front endpapers and verso front wrapper, else clean and firm copy). Lavishly illustrated Psalter of St. Louis (now Bibliothèque nationale de France MS Latin 10525) was made between 1253 and 1270. Done in the elaborate Rayonnant style and richly gilded, the manuscript contains 78 miniatures, reproduced here in half-tone. Included also facsimiles of 6 miniatures from the manuscript owned by Henry Yates Thompson.
