About This Item

New York: Holt, Rinehart and Winston, 1960. First edition of the second and final volume in Baruch's memoirs. Octavo, original cloth, illustrated with photographs. Presentation copy, inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper, "To Mrs. Jon Galligan with best wishes Bernard M. Baruch Nov. 1961." With the Galligan armorial bookplate to the pastedown. Near fine in a very good dust jacket with a few small closed tears. Jacket design by Ben Feder. In the tumultuous years since Bernard Baruch first entered public life, he has been intimately involved with most of the crucial issues of our time. In this, the final volume in Baruch's memoirs, the Elder Statesman recalls the exciting role he played for nearly fifty years in national and international affairs. The book begins with Baruch's departure from Wall Street to enter public life and covers in depth the problems that confronted him as Chairman of the War Industries Board during World War One.
