Including portraits of the Lord Provost George Harrison, John Stuart Blackie, Peter Guthrie Tait, David Masson, James Muirhead, John Kirkpatrick, Norman MacPherson and William Rutherford.Drawn and etched by William Brassey Hole, a Scottish artist, etcher and engraver. This was the first work to be illustrated by Hole, who also illustrated books by Robert Louis Stevenson, J. M. Barrie and Robert Burns.Illustrated with forty-six portraits, one for each professor represented. Collated, complete.From the library of David W. H. Walton, an ecologist and professor with the British Antarctic Survey.A limited edition, with seven hundred and fifty copies produced in quarto, this being No. 303. In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart; spine is slight bumped to the extremities and the head and tail of the spine. Internally, binding is a little tender in places. Pages have the odd spot. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
