About This Item
[LGBTQ] Queer Brides Say "I Do" in Vintage 1920's Wedding Photo Archive of 3 Original Photographs . Original vintage black and white gelatin prints measure 6" x 3.5". The images capture a male as a bride, dressed in a ruffled white wedding dress and intricate floral veil. The groom is woman dressed in a dapper suit, whilst wearing a bold mustache. The marriage officiant is a woman dressed in a long black coat, wide leg trousers, and large top hat. She also sports a faux beard and holds a large bible. The groomsmen are women dressed in suits, ties, and bold mustaches. One bridesmaid is a man dressed in a long lace dress, black scarf, and lace floral hat. A man poses as the flower girl, as he wears a knee-length white ruffled dress, knee-high socks, and white mary-jane flats. He also holds a basket full of roses, and wears a floral headband. In one image, the marriage officiant holds a bible whilst the couple stands under a floral wedding arch. The photos appear to have been taken out of a scrapbook. An intimate view of queer marriage in the early 20th century. This photo archive is in very good condition.
