Philadelphia: J. B. Lippincott Company; (1964/1974). First Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. First US hardcover edition, near fine in a near fine dust jacket. The only date on the copyright page is 1964 (the date the paperback original was published). The 1974 date conforms to the date code at the front flap ("374"). Dark red cloth with gilt lettering on spine; a fresh, tight copy. Endpapers have light offsetting from the jacket flaps. The jacket is primarily dark red and unfaded. There is light edgewear to the unlaminated jacket, with one small nick (about 1/4 inch) or closed tear at the top of the front panel. $5.95 price at bottom of front flap; no names or other making in or on the book. A tight, clean copy of the fourth Travis McGee title, and fairly scarce in this edition and condition.
