About This Item
Chicago: Field Museum of Natural History, 1933. First Edition. Pamphlet. Near fine. An explanation of the racial types used as the basis of Malvina Hoffman's massive project to make more than 100 life-sized bronzes of human types for the Field Museum in Chicago. The scientific text is uncomfortably close to eugenics and is a touch condescending to non-white peoples.
40 pages, plus nine photogravure plates of the bronzes and a plan of the hall in which they were exhibited. Anthropology Leaflet 30. First edition (first printing). A near fine copy in stapled wrappers (pamphlet). This copy is inscribed at the top of the front cover, "With the Author's compliments, Henry Field.
