About This Item

Folio, tan cloth-backed boards, printed spine labels, errata slip attached before contents page, illustrated, 293 pp. Some very light shelf wear; else near fine. This is Hervey's first installment of his history of horse racing in America, which would be followed by a two volume set covering the 1665-1865 period. He pays places a good deal of attention to breeding, and includes a table on pedigrees. He also includes a table presenting placements and winnings for lead horses for each year. This volume is handsomely illustrated.
