New Orleans, Middle American Research Institute, Tulane University of Louisiana, 1948, First edition in English in book form. . original cloth, gilt spine title lettering, light cover wear, small light stain in a few outer margins, very good, solid and tight copy. . 4to [26.5 x 20.5 cm]; [ii], 157-312 pp, plates from early sources, facsimile of orig title page, index, the introduction is in English, the text is in both the original Latin and in English translation, double columns. . Originally published as part of the Middle American Research journal, the work describes early travel in Mexico and first published in Latin in 1782. The narrative includes the lakes of Mexico, Jorullo, waterfalls of Guatemala, cochineal, indigo production, beavers, mining, sugar, cattle, birds, animals, sports, etc with some historic illustrations, one of the Voladores (flyers) still practiced in Papantla near El Tajin, others include sugar mills.
