Boston: Little, Brown and Company,, [1963]. Scarce first issue copy in lovely condition First edition, first printing, first issue, without a dedication page. It has long been speculated that about 20 to 30 such copies were issued. Though our experience suggests the true number is much greater, copies in the first issue are still scarcer than the second and third issues, with the dedicatory leaf tipped or bound in, respectively. These two novellas, published here together and in book-form for the first time, are part of the Glass family sequence. They originally appeared in the New Yorker in 1955 and 1959. Octavo. Original grey cloth, spine lettered in gilt. With dust jacket. Housed in custom yellow cloth folding case with black spine label. A fine copy in near-fine dust jacket, light creasing to spine ends, tiny closed tear at head of rear panel, else a sharp, bright example.
