In Ravel's own words both written and spoken, we begin to understand the genius of the composer. The book begins with an overview of Ravel's career, personality, aesthetics, and his formal lecture: "Contemporary Music" which he presented in 1928. The next section contains letters from Cocteau, Colette, Faure, Stravinsky and others. Seciton III contains his articles (he was known as a brilliant critic). The final section has his press interviews between 1911 and 1933 with all the material fully annotated. In addition, there are sixteen plates and nine appendices as well as a unique discography. Essential for the devotee of Ravel's genius.
