Folio [11.375x9.25in]; 139 pp., I-III, list of publications by the USGS and suggested library catalogue descriptions, four large fold out maps partially colored, 20 plates of black and white images, four figures in text (elevation illustrations), list of plants collected and index; 3/4 Bound in red stained calf and red pebbled cloth, with blind stamped ruled lines and ribbed spine with gilt lettering, marbled end papers, all edges trimmed with marbled ink design; Some wear to covers with scuffing and scrapes to all surfaces, corners, edges and spine. corners bumped and worn through, front cover faded with evident deep scrape, reattached split piece at top of spine. [Wikersham 8249]. This report was produced by the Department of the Interior United States Geological Survey and includes geological reconnaissance map of northern Alaska along the 152nd meridian from the 66th parallel to the Arctic coast by way of Koyukuk, John, Anaktuvuk and Colville rivers.

Frank Charles Schrader (1860-1944) was a widely known geologist with a long career with the U.S. Geological Survey. He was a researcher, professor at Harvard, and an intrepid field explorer. His field experience was mostly in Alaska in the late 1890's and early 1900's and in the western states . This book is one of his many reports on the geology and mining. He focus was on mineral extraction and mining operations.
