XII, 274 pages, last 3 blank, preface by author, notes and bibliography and index. 1/4 buckram spine with red and black writing. 3/4 red boards. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the backstrip. The lower edge of the backstrip has some small splits. Fading and light rubbing to the book corners. Light browning to the text block edges. Plain text dustwrapper with black background with red and white writing on the front panel and spine. Rubbing to the dustwrapper corners. Rubbing and slight chipping to the top backstrip edge and there are some marks to the laminate of the rear dustwrapper panel. Rubbing to the dustwrapper has also occurred. An eminent anthropologist looks at one society's taboos -- that of incest. He does not necessarily take the standard view of why this particular taboo has come in to society, though he makes some suggestions in a lively and controversial book. This is the first UK edition.
