About This Item

NY, Viking, 1945, first edition thus.. Issued without dust jacket, but with the publisher's slipcase, while this appears to be the first illustrated edition with the beautiful color illustrations by Wesley Dennis, it is actually a Book-of-the-Month Club book dividend with a full-color prospectus for the book with its appreciation of the book, its illustrations, and Steinbeck by Bernardine Kielty laid in loosely, it includes all four portions of the story, The Gift, The Great Mountains, The Promise, and The Leader of the People, produced by Rogers-Kellogg-Stillson, this book was not in the Adrian H. Goldstone collection, cited as Goldstone & Payne A9f via a Bantam Books reference, not recorded by Morrow. Fine in a very good slipcas.
