BENEVENTO: PRESSO PIETRO PATERNO, 1834. In 8. Dim. 22,5x15 cm. Pp. 199. Legatura in buone condizioni. Beauitufl edition of 1834 of this scarce work about the Saint Filomena from Rome (IV century) written by the Canon Francesco di Lucia. The work is made up of three tomes boudn together and it is complete. The name and cult of Saint Filomena was born with the finding in 1802 of some bones in a grave in the Catacombe di Priscilla in Rome. For a fault of interpretation in the grave, Saint Filomena was considered martyre, after that taken away from the calendar in 1960's. In 1805 the Canon de Lucia asks for some relics of remainings found in May 1802 (reduced in dust and fragments) for the building of a new altar in his church in Mugnano del Cardinale. The remainings, transported from Rome to Naples arrived in Mugnano the 11th of August. In 1827 the Pope Leone XII gave to the church of Mugnano three terracotta slabs. In the work De Lucia describes the wonder accompained the arrival of relics in the church as miracles (people not died), usage of senses, prodigious cares, favours, apparitions of Santa Filomena, the images of the Saint changed, changes in items belonged to the Saint etc... In the frontspice engraving with the portrait of the Saint engraved by Raffaello D'Angelo and five planches inside. Very beautiful copy published in the precious blue paper. Toghether with the work a little image of 1830 circa representing Saint Philomena. Collationed and complete. Scarce copy, high value Half leather cover with golden title in the spine in fair general conditions with wearings and missing parts in the edges and spine; paltes almost detached. Binding in good conditions with cracks. Inside pages are in good conditions with foxings and humidity stains. Little worming in the last page of the index with no loss of text.

1904 1st ed Mark Twain Adam's Diary Fall of Man Creation Illustrated Satire"Wheresoever she was, there was Eden."
– Mark Twain, Diaries of Adam and Eve
Mark Twain's 'Diaries of Adam and Eve' are first-person memoirs that follow along from the beginning of creation, getting to know each other, and their final days on earth after 'the fall'.
'Adam's Diary', first published in 1904, was Twain's comedic and satirical take on the Book of Genesis. It was filled with illustrations by Strothmann; however, most of them were considered pornographic in nature when it was first published in the United States.
