[2], vii-xvii, [1], 1-355, [1] pp. Green cloth with gilt lettering and a gilt decoration on the front board, gilt lettering on the spine. Illustrated with a frontispiece, several plates and in-text illustrations, a chart, and with a folding map in the rear pocket of the volume. Both hinges cracked and the binding shaken, lacks the endpapers and the half-title page. The first several leaves have a dampspot on their bottom margin.

Boards are frayed at corners and edges. Some soil, bumping and rubbing. Rear board noticeably scuffed. Previous owner's bookplate on inside paste down. Some soil and tanning to endpapers. Possibly and ex library with numbers written in pencil on blank verso of title page, and along the spine on the first preface page. Rear endpaper and map pocket rubbed from possible library card pocket removal. Occasional underlining to text. Large folding map in rear pocket is present and in nice condition. Always carefully wrapped and shipped in cardboard boxes to protect your purchase.

Covers slightly rubbed with wear to ends of spine and corners. Loose front hinge tape repaired. Rubber stamps and names on front endpapers and rubber stamp on map pocket at rear. very good Arctic Bibl. 2717. The expedition, under Low, was to patrol Canada's arctic waters and to establish arctic outposts. Also includes much historical background, as well as information on arctic whaling and on the Eskimos of the areas visited. Cover title: "The Cruise of the Neptune 1903-04". 1906

Mounted to declare Canada's authority over the Arctic, the expedition was led by Albert Peter Low (1861-1942), a geologist with experience in the north, with a compliment of 43 including a detachment of North-West Mounted Police and several other scientists. Octavo: xvii, 355 p. with a frontispiece, 62 illustrations, and a color folding map (rear pocket). Original brown cloth binding, with gilt stamping. Period previous owner's ink signature to the front flyleaf. The upper seam of the rear pocket is split. Minor bumping to the corners and tips; otherwise very good.

Green boards are lightly rubbed and soiled. Gilt on front board and spine still bright.  Spine ends worn with some fraying. A very good copy.

Covers are dampstained all along outer edge of front cover and completely on back cover. All pages up until the end of chapter on are dampstained on outer edge. Previous owner's name on ffep. There is a pocket at the end of the book that may have held maps or other papers at one time, whatever was in there is missing..
