About This Item

Cambridge: Folsom, Wells, Thurston, 1841. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Very Good+/No Jacket. Book is x-library and restored in library binding. We have followed our custom of giving a grade twixt the handsome new bindery and the aged character of the text. Text consists of 373 pages, followed by 15 pages (one-sided) of illustrations (plates) line drawings of the various forms of sea-life examined. I surmise that the book was uncirculated after it's restoration, it is stamped withdrawn and has the customary university library indicators. The original facing of the book appears to have been removed, retained and laid into the book, sandwiched in wax paper? prior to the title page, it is severely worn. Text itself is minimally age darkened, seemingly unfoxed, supple, my initial reaction was that it could not be 170 years old, but good paper and light use seem to have left it quite decent, if a trifle age darkened. The title page and original facing verify that we are not dealing with a reproduction. New heavy cloth binding (brown)and off white end sheets are used. Spendid work by the restorer in my estimation. Foto will be added shortly. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.*
