About This Item

New York: Dodd Mead and Company, 1895. Signed by Author. Quarter Leather. Acceptable. Jefferson, Joseph. Number 56 of 150. This is an unusual specimen. Laid in letter and envelope from Joseph Jefferson, along with a personalized inscription on reverse of publisher's note page. Another letter, more difficult to read is affixed to page 16. Noted a few pages with a touch of foxing. Quarter Leather binding with gold gilt. Binding is cracked with some pages laid in, including marbled end papers. But still the binding is intact, pages toned but crisp and clean, multiple critical notes by former owner in margins. Photogravure frontispiece has a tear to the frame. Multiple tissue guards are creased. Deckled edges of pages have a few small nicks here and there. Former owner bookplate on inner cover. Gilt top edges of pages have scuffed. Leather, gilt and cloth all rubbed, some fading to the cloth, gilt still shiny, light scuffs and rubs. Extremities lightly bumped with rubs and small tears. Ships within 24-48 hours via media mail.
