An association copy, from the library of the author's son, Inglis Palgrave, with his ink and pencil inscription to the title pages, and bookplate to the front paste down of Volume II. Robert Harry Inglis Palgrave was an economist, a Fellow of the Royal Society. He was the financial editor of 'The Economist', and published 'Palgrave's Dictionary of Political Economy'.The first edition of this work.Complete in two volumes.In a Morrell binding.An extensive history of the English Commonwealth, tracing the rise and progress during the Anglo-Saxon period.By Francis Palgrave, a noted archivist and historian, known for his many scholarly publications. In a Morrell half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Spines and joints are a little faded with some rubbing. Bumping to the spines and extremities, head of the spine of Volume I is lifting. A little rubbing to the extremities. Light marks to the boards and spines. Spine labels of Volume I are a little worn. Front hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Bookplate to the front paste down of Volume II. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Ink and pencil note to the title pages. Very Good
