In a Near Fine dust jacket with publisher's price intact, light wear to spine ends, toning, offsetting to blank verso. A lovely copy. The author's loose retelling of a Brothers Grimm fairy tale, set against a Southern backdrop.
Synopsis
The Grimm's Brothers' fairy tale, The Robber Bridegroom, is retold through the lens of the American South in this Eudora Welty novel. Set along the Natchez Trace, the story tells of Rosamond, who was kidnapped away from her home by a bandit. The tale contains mistaken identities, the cruel stepmother, beauty, terror, sex, and violence - all the best that fairy tales have to offer.
