Black cloth-backed reddecorated cloth. 11 1/4" x 8 1/2". Printed at The Grabhorn Press, San Francisco. Concerning Stevenson's stay in 1880 in an abandoned bunkhouse in "Silverado", a mining town near what is now St. Helena, California (Now Robert Louis Stevenson Stae Park). GB 557. Per Magee: One of the most ingenious books that the Press has printed. The original Journal was heavily corrected. These corrections and deletions have been indicated in red; where the author transposed one line from another this has been shown by means of rules bent to shape. There are also eleven inserts showing notes on the versos of theoriginal Journal. These have been printed on a lighter shade of paper...".
