Bound in quarter dark-green leather with patterned, papered sides; gilt lettering on spine. Internally clean and unmarked; some natural toning to endpapers. Foreword by Una Jeffers. Nine illustrated plates, including frontispiece portrait of Jeffers by Edward Weston. With original unprinted dustwrapper, which is chipped and cracked (very fragile, with hinge tissue holding it together on reverse); in an archival mylar sleeve. pp. xiv, 173, [2]. A study of Jeffers' work which focuses on his preoccupation with the sea and ''a compilation of all materials pertaining to the sea contained in his poetry,'' by Jeffers' ''secretary'' and biographer, Melba Berry Bennett (1901-1968).
