First edition . Published in 1839 includes four steel engraved illustrations. 187 pages plus 3 additional pages advertising other books in the Rollo series and other "books for the young" Despite its' age, the book is in good condition. The gold title is still clear on the front cover and there is only very slight shelf wear on the cover. However, there is a tear at the top of the spine of slightly less than 1/2 inch. The spine is still tightly bound. The pages are in excellent condition, A previous owner's book plate is pasted on the inside front cover and a previous owner's name is written in black ink at the top of the title page. The printing of adjacent pages has left an impression on the front and rear fly leafs.
