About This Item
Limited to 10 000 copies.
In 1928 Mikhail Loris-Melikov (1905-1936) was a meteorologist at the icebreaker Malygin during the rescue operation of the Umberto Nobile's dirigible expedition. The book is devoted to this expedition.
Loris-Melikov was born in Paris. Almost no details are known about its origins, but he related to an old noble family that belonged to Georgia's top aristocratic society. Mikhail Loris-Melikov studied at the Petrograd University and became a professor at the Hydrometeorological University and a senior specialist in the Central Propaganda Bureau. In 1933 he was arrested and exiled. He was mentioned in the Case of Rosicrucianism, the case of an underground mystic organization in 1940, four years after his death, so we know he was a mystical anarchist.
Provenance: Emiliy Mindlin (1900-1981), poet and journalist.
