The first trade edition of this volume illustrating the beautiful palace gardens, beautifully depicted with lovely watercolours and other illustrations. The first trade edition of this volume dedicated to the presentation of beautiful royal gardens by Cyril Ward. Including an outline of the history of gardening in Great Britain with especial reference to royal gardens. Chapters explore the gardens of Norman Tower Garden in Windsor Castle, Bagshot Park, Hampton Court, Osborne, Swiss Cottage and Osborne Cottage, Marlborough House, Kensington Palace, and others. Another edition of this work was published in the same year, limited to two hundred and fifty copies.Illustrated with thirty-two full-page colour reproductions from original water-colours, and five pen drawings by the author. Collated, complete. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally generally rather sound with some shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities,, considerable chipping to the head and tail of the spine. A minor tear to the upper joint. General light soiling to the boards, with a minor damp marking affecting particularly the rear board. Pencil inscription to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. A light foxing affecting the first and last few leaves, with a minor faint spotting scattered throughout. Illustrated with thirty-two full-page colour reproductions from original water-colours, and five pen drawings by the author. Collated, complete. Good
