Putnam & Company Ltd, London, 1945. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Good Condition/Poor. Illustrator: Lionel Edwards. XIV,112 pp., introduction by Adair Dighton, list of illustrations. Illustrated coloured frontispiece by Lionel Edwards, "Newmarket High Street". Within the text there are tender coloured plates and numerous black and white full paged illustrations and vignettes by Lionel Edwards. Green coloured boards with green embossed writing on the front panel and gilt on the spine. A ll corners are bumped but the bottom right-hand corner on the front panel is particularly so. The head and heel of the spine are bumped and soft and also creased. The bottom of front spine gutter has started to fray and. There is discolouration to all the edges and paper edges have also been marked. Browning has commenced to the internal pages. Illustrated dustwrapper, same as for frontispiece, with buff coloured background and black writing on the front panel and spine. Dustwrapper is extremely affected by sun, and discolouration and marks are prevalent. Corners of the dust wrapper are rubbed and chipped and the bottom of right-hand front corner is split for 2.5". Creasing and tears have occurred to the top and bottom edges and both the top of the spine and the bottom of the spine are missing of the dust wrapper. Basically the dustwrapper is in very poor shape. Dustwrapper is priced clipped on the front fold over bottom of right-hand corner. The history of horse racing at "Royal Newmarket".
