About This Item

New York: Heritage Press, 1959. First Edition Thus. Hardcover. Fine. Large 8vo 9" - 10. Pierre Brissaud. A sturdy, attractive, tightly bound hardcover copy of a Heritage Press title, being a First Edition Thus. Clean, bright, unmarked interior, minimal rubbing to extremities, having been preserved well in a Very Good condition, paper-covered cardboard slipcase. Bright red cloth over boards, gilt-stamped initials and illustration (his coat of arms) to front cover, gilt lettering to spine. From a collection of three dozen Heritage Press titles that belonged to an Eastern Washington professional botanist. Complete with the Sandglass newsletter. The Heritage Press operated from 1937 - 1982 and was created by George Macy, who managed with editors the reprinting of volumes from the Limited Editions Club, thus enabling fine printing exemplars to trickle down to a broader public still thirsty, newly thirsty, for classic nineteenth-century novels and biographies. This title is augmented by the full-color paintings of Pierre Brissaud, and translated from the original French by Desmond Flower. Folded genealogy of Saint-Simon is laid in.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
