About This Item
Salem, N.J.: Salem High School, 1890. Near Fine. Invitation to the commencement of the Salem High School Class of 1890 consisting of one card (12.5 x 8.2 cm.) with an engraving of flowers in a vase in front of a lake scene, signed "E. A. Wright, Phila." This is tied with a white tassle to a second card (14.2 x 9.7 cm.) with a list of the 10 graduates. Each card has gilt edges. The graduates were: Julia A. Carpenter, S. Lizzie French, Mary W. Holme, Mary D. Pancoast, Ella V. C. Pierpont, Dora M. Sickler, Alice C. Summerill, Elizabeth H. Wander, John C. Flynn, and Herbert L. Hannah. Over the next two decades, Julia A. Carpenter (1872-1956) and Mary D. Pancoast Hiles (1871-1957) were very active in the Woman's Christian Temperance Union. In Near Fine Condition: slight discoloration under white tie; otherwise, clean and bright.
