First edition, first prnt. First issue dustjacket with reviews of Updike's first novel on the rear panel. Signed by Updike on the half-title page. Beginning board edge toning and beginning foxing on the rear panel, pastedowns and foreedge; dustjacket with edgewear, mostly at the spine folds and corners, short closed tear with few shallow wrinkles at the rear flap bottom corner with internal tape reinforcement (not apparent on the outside), three small perforations on the front flap fold. Altogether, a tight, clean copy with still bright, intact dustjacket. Very Good condition in about Very Good dustjacket in an archival cover. Updike's first story collection.
