Norfolk, 1849. unbound. 1 page, 10 x 8 inches, Norfolk Navy Yard, February 28, 1849. Signed "D.G. Farragut Commdr. U.S.N." to assistant surgeon Dr. Charles H. Union rear admiral instrumental in the taking of New Orleans and the Union control of the Mississippi. It was at Mobile Bay where he exclaimed, "Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!
