With photographic plates depicting the expedition in question. This work was from the library of the author's son, Sir Peter Markham Scott, a British naval officer, conservationist and ornithologist, and the only child of renowned Navy officer and Antarctic explorer Robert Falcon Scott. A work of collected extracts from the journals of Robert Falcon Scott, written during his final expedition aboard the Terra Nova. During Robert Falcon Scott"s career he led two expeditions to the Antarctic regions, the 1901-1904 Discovery expedition, and the 1910-1913 Terra Nova expedition, on which he died, and from which the entries within this work date. After his early death he became a celebrated hero amongst the British Public.In the original price clipped dust wrapper, with numerous plates depicting photographs from Scott's expeditions. The front and rear pastedowns and free endpapers bear an illustration tracking the course of the journey in question. In the publisher's original binding, with price clipped dust wrapper. Very smart, and bright. Edge wear to tail of dust wrapper front panel, with small closed tear. Two further small closed tears to rear panel. Light chipping to head of spine panel. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Near Fine
