A lovely second printing of the author's memoirs concerning her time in Scotland living among various pets, including a common seal. The second printing of this work by Rowena Farre in the same year as the first impression, in which she narrates of seven-years spent in a remote croft in Sutherland with her aunt Miriam, living among various pets, including a common seal names Lora. This was the author's first book, and the one to gain her fame with numerous reprints and translations in seven different languages. With decorations in text throughout by Raymond Sheppard. Complete in its unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear and a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Previous ownership signature in pencil to the front free endpaper, with a bookplate 'From Aunt Shoza to Echo with lots of love' tipped in to the verso of the front blank page. The dust wrapper is unclipped and very smart, with only minor shelf wear and a minor sunning to the spine, general light soiling to the wraps. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean. With decorations in text throughout by Raymond Sheppard. Near Fine
