About This Item

Greenwich: CT: Fawcett Publications / Gold Medal Books, 1959. First edition, January 1959, so stated. Gold Medal #855 [.25 cover price]. Paperback Original. Light reading crease else about fine. TV Adapation: An episode of Hawaiian Eye, 9 December 1959 (season 1, episode 10; same title). "Shepard fell for a striking redhead, Corinne, who was so beautiful she could have any man she wanted. Shepard had big plans for their future together. But, that was before the Korean War. She didn't have the courtesy to send a dear John letter, but someone sent him a news clipping of her wedding announcement. Six years go by and Shepard buys and sells property on Florida's Gold Coast. Then, he gets a news clipping about the death of Corinne's husband and Shepard packs his suitcase and heads north to find out if she's still the woman of his dreams or a cold-blooded, marble-hearted bitch. But, of course, like other Colby novels, it's also a story about how an ordinary Joe gets mixed up with the criminal element. Turns out Corinne's husband had shown up one night with 200,000 bills and didn't have a great explanation where it all came from. The money is gone when the husband dies under strange circumstances. Corinne wants that dough more than anything in the world and she's gonna use her charms to get Shepard to find it. A terrific fast reading novel that feels as if it were effortlessly written. As with other Colby novels, it's hard to put this down." -- Dave Wilde at Amazon. First Edition. Pictorial Wrappers. Near Fine/No Jacket. Vintage Paperback.
