Book #5 in the classic series featuring girl sleuth, Nancy Drew, & her chums, Bess & George. Orig. published in 1931, this edition is a 1961A-74 (per Farrah's 11th), the very last printing with a DJ before they switched to the yellow spine picture cover format in 1962. Blue tweed binding, multipic endpapers, 203 pages, retaining the original text & artist Russell Tandy's frontispiece, now on plain instead of glossy paper. The hardcover 12mo is in VG condition, with mild rubbing to extremities & slight corner bumping. Else, completely clean, binding strong & straight, though front hinge is ls starting to crack. Creamy white pages with a whisper of tanning, else unmarked. The unclipped wrap DJ (front flap lists to #36, rear flap to CB#12, back cover to DG #22) is VG, with slight edgewear & chipping to lower spine; nicely protected in new mylar cover Free!
