London; Tinsley Brothers, 1870., 1870. Hardcover. Octavo. 275 pp. 4 page advertisement section to rear. Book Condition: Very Good. Original red cloth with gilt titles and bevelled boards. Staining & soiling to cloth, which is rubbed to edges with very minor loss at head/tail of spine; gilt dull. Light foxing to endpapers and a few sporadic fingermarks. Inner hinge cracked. Gift inscription to title page signed "From the Author" together with his initials. Scarce autobiography from the closing stages of the Franco-Prussian war.
