An interesting 18th century work on the form and substance of administrative and diplomatic correspondence. Gasparo, Count Gozzi (1713 – 1786) was a Venetian critic and dramatist. In 1747 he and his wife poet Luisa Bergalli took over the management of the theatre of Sant' Angelo in Venice. Gozzi supplied most of the dramas (usually translated from French). The theatre was a financial failure, but launched Gozzi on a successful career as a writer and dramatist. In 1760, Gozzi established the Gazzetta Venta, an Italian publication similar to the Spectator in England. This and his later publication L'Osservatore Veneto established Gozzi as a consummate critic and one of the most elegant stylists in Italy.
