New York: Random House, (1976)., (1976).. Good. INSCRIBED & SIGNED WITH A SELF-PORTRAIT SKETCH BY THE AUTHOR BURT BRITTON - Oblong octavo, 6-1/8 inches high by 9-1/4 inches wide. Softcover, bound in white & black wraps printed in red, white, black & yellow. The covers are slightly soiled and rubbed with creases to the corners and edges and a short tear at bottom left of the front cover. [xvi], 271 & [1] pages, with over 630 black & white illustrations, including self-portraits by Edward Abbey, Berenice Abbott, Kobo Abe, Richard Avedon, James Baldwin, Jorge Luis Borges, Paul Bowles, Brassai, William S. Burroughs, John Cage, Malcolm Cowley, Patti Smith, among hundreds of others. The edges of the book are foxed. Good.
First paperback edition.
Inscribed by Burt Britton and his wife Korby to the artist Ron Mallory whose self-portrait is depicted on page 245 of the book. The inscription is illustrated with an original self-portrait sketch by Burt Britton depicting smoke rising from a cigarette nearly hidden by the dark beard & hair which otherwise covers his face.
