Boston: James R. Osgood and Company, 1872. This is a Very Good (Plus) to Near Fine copy of the First Edition of Hawthorne's last book, a romance set in the Revolutionary War. Blue cloth binding, decoratively stamped in black with titling in gilt. Clean text; 229 pages, with one page in the rear listing Hawthorne's works. First Issue point on page 42. The Preface is by his daughter Una, who would pass herself in five years. Light bumps, rubs to the head and foot of the spine. The spine is darkened but completely readable. A superior copy.. First Edition. Decorative Cloth. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
